Dee Dee King - Standing In The Spotlight (Lossless) [1989]






Standing In The Spotlight was Dee Dee (Ramone) King's debut album as a rapper/rocker. Which, of course, makes it one hell of a great collector's item! Musically, the songs vary from Old School Hip-Hop to Rock & Roll and the Eighties popular music to the Ramones style songs. The songs are co-written with long time collaborator Daniel Rey and friends Debbie Harry and Chris Stein (Blondie) appear on a couple of tracks.
Rapper Dee Dee King is actually rocker Dee Dee Ramone going through a whopping identity crisis in the late '80s. As Ramones drummer Marky Ramone put it, "Dee Dee isn't a rap artist, he's a rock artist. I thought it was sort of unusual. One day he started wearing Mercedes Benz chains around his neck and gold rings. It was crazy. You know, I really think he lost his mind".

GOD - For Lovers Only (320Kbps) [1989]


GOD (spelt in capitals) was a rock 'n' roll band from Melbourne, Australia, together from 1986 to 1989 and comprising Joel Silbersher, Tim Hemensley, Sean Greenway and Matthew Whittle. All members were 15-16 at the time of the band's formation. Prior to GOD's formation, Hemensley had been a member of Royal Flush (with Roman Tucker, later of Rocket Science), Greenway and Whittle were members of Foot and Mouth, and Silbersher had his own radio show on 3RRR.

Their debut 7" single My Pal from 1987 is their best known track. It got very favourable reviews and sold in the thousands (which was a lot then for an independent band).It became an independent classic and cover versions have been recorded by several bands, including Magic Dirt, Peabody, The Hollowmen, Bored! and Bum (from Canada).

GOD's first mini-album Rock Is Hell (1988), was released on Au-Go-Go Records with 4 different cover designs, one designed by each band member, due to the members' inability to agree on one cover design. Rock Is Hell was variously praised and panned by critics,[who?] but still sold respectably.

Their follow-up full-length album For Lovers Only (1989), also on Au-Go-Go, was a bigger budget production, and musically a big improvement.Although GOD had disbanded by the time it was released, the album was released on vinyl by three European labels. Au-Go-Go later released a CD of For Lovers Only, with My Pal and most of Rock Is Hell as bonus tracks.

The band's last gig was at the Central Club on 30 July 1989. Hemensley had already joined Bored! by then, and all the members went on to further musical projects, Hemensley later to the Powder Monkeys. Silbersher was perhaps the most recognised, forming Hoss and Tendrils, releasing solo albums, and working with Tex Perkins.

Greenway died of a heroin overdose on 21 January 2001. Hemensley died of a heroin overdose in 2003.

Teenage Head - Teenage Head with Marky Ramone (Lossless) [2008]

 
Often billed as Canada's answer to the Ramones, Teenage Head were in truth just as much a new wave band as they were a punk rock outfit. They had a similar affection for pre-Beatles rock & roll, especially rockabilly, as well as a sense of trashy fun that made them a terrific party band when they were on. Their songs were unpretentious celebrations of all the classic rock & roll staples: cars, booze, girls, partying, and teenage rebellion. Notorious for inadvertently touching off one of the biggest rock & roll riots in their home country's history, the band never broke big in the U.S., partly owing to an ill-timed car crash at the peak of their momentum, partly to an ill-advised makeover as a tamed-down, rootsy pub rock band. Still, they endured to rank as one of the best-loved Canadian rock bands of the '80s, and remain fondly remembered today.

Lex Hives is the fifth full-length album by Swedish rock band The Hives. The album was released on 1 June, 2012 in Sweden, and internationally from 4 June, 2012.
Lex Hives was self-produced by The Hives and mixed by Grammy Award winner Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele), with two additional tracks mixed by D. Sardy (Marilyn Manson, Slayer) and Joe Zook (Weezer, Modest Mouse). The deluxe version features bonus tracks (digital download only) produced by Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.[1]
The term "Lex Hives" is a phrase derived from the ancient Roman practice of enacting a system or body of laws and accepting them as a standard.[2]

Giant Giant Sand – Tucson (320Kbps) [2012]






Just when you thought Giant Sand couldn’t get any bigger, Howe Gelb has done just that by regrouping, expanding and magnifying his vision with the newest version of past ensembles, calling it (appropriately enough) GIANT GIANT SAND. As a sort of homage, he’s named the album Tucson after the town he’s called home for forty years. This self-described country rock opera by one of music’s leading risk-takers, is set to be released on June 12th on Fire Records. Taking place in the town of Tucson, the story revolves around a “semi grizzled man with overt boyish naivete” who sets off to escape his hometown and embarks on a life-changing road trip; eschewing all his worldly goods and leaving his girlfriend, encountering jail at the Mexican border, finding love at a train station saloon and fearing the end of the world. Foxboro Hot Tubs - Stop Drop and Roll (Lossless) [2008]

The Foxboro Hot Tubs made their inconspicuous debut in December 2007, when three songs were posted on the band's website. While the Hot Tubs' identity was kept secret, several influential bloggers and news outlets claimed the group was actually a side project for all three members of Green Day, who had recently retreated from the public eye to work on their American Idiot follow-up. Such rumors had yet to be confirmed when a track from the band's Stop Drop and Roll EP, "Mother Mary", entered the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks charts and climbed to number 16. Whoever the Foxboro Hot Tubs were, their tuneful take on garage rock (equally indebted to Iggy Pop, The Hives, Tommy James And The Shondells) proved to be quite popular, and fans awaited the release of the group's full-length debut. Stop Drop and Roll!!! was made available in MP3 format in April 2008, with a proper release following in May.

Recorded and mixed in 2007 by Chris Dugan on a 1/4" 8 track, except "Dark Side of Night" recorded on a 4 lousy track. Mastered by Ken Lee

Pearl Jam - No Code (Lossless) [1996]


No Code is the fourth studio album by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1996 through Epic Records. Following a troubled tour for its previous album, Vitalogy (1994), in which Pearl Jam engaged in a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster, the band went into the studio to record its follow-up. The music on the record was even more diverse than what the band had done on previous releases, incorporating elements of garage rock, worldbeat, psychedelia, and experimentalism.

Although No Code debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, it left a large section of the band’s fanbase unsatisfied and quickly fell down the charts. Critical reviews were also mixed, with praise to the musical variety but the album being considered inconsistent. The album became the first Pearl Jam album to not reach multi-platinum status, receiving a single platinum certification by the RIAA in the United States.

Porno For Pyros - Good God's Urge (Lossless) [1996]


Good God's Urge is the second and last album by Porno for Pyros. It was released on May 28, 1996. The band went on a brief hiatus shortly after this album's release because guitarist Peter DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer. On this second album, Porno for Pyros changed their style. Instead of their funky alternative rock style from the first album, they play a rather exotic music with folklore elements.

Joey Ramone - Don't Worry About Me (Lossless) [2002]


Shortly before his untimely death in April of 2001, punk rock icon Joey Ramone finished what would be his very first (and ultimately last) solo album, Don't Worry About Me, which was issued almost exactly one year later. It's understandable that some will automatically assume that it sounds like a new Ramones album would in the early 21st century, but Don't Worry About Me comes off both reflective and even mature at times.
