The Astronauts - Peter Pan Hits The Suburbs (Lossless) [1994]

"Peter Pan Hits The Suburbs" was released in 1981 to widespread acclaim. Incredibly it received great reviews in virtually all the UK music press. The typical Astronauts audience at the time was largely hardcore punks attracted by the energetic gigs and a handful of hippies so the album was something of a surprise. Full of heartfelt folk ballads and featuring legendary jazz saxophonist Lol Coxhill the album was not what fans had expected but appealed to a different audience. The contradiction of heavy chaotic punk performances and structured melodic alternative pop/folk/ambient songs continues to this day.

The first LP (Genius 001) re-released on CD by Lazy Dog Records.

Bortek invented Jad Wio at the dawn of the eighties. From a projected novel he retained the main character – Jad Wiolensky – whose name he abbreviated and whose mask he assumed. A first, very confidential and self produced cassette, "L'un Seul", was distributed before the group found the right balance with Kbye entering the lists: Jad Wio would be a two-headed hydra. As of the first concerts – 1983, 1984: guitars, vocals, tapes and machines – the duo established its exceptional style and stirred up batcave hordes and electric birds of all feathers. Obsessions for the bizarre and the marginal from the outset: Jad Wio couldn't be categorised. Between 1985 and 1986 three EPs were released – "The ballad of Candy Valentine", "Colours in my dreams" and "Aubade à Simbad" – which were brought together on "Cellar Dreams", an anthology of Jad Wio phase one. Were mixed, with of a touch of the cold and dark tones of yore, rock and roll fascination and oriental reminiscences. Without letting up, Jad Wio flaunted it on stages in France and singing mainly in English throughout Europe. The Slickee Boys - Here To Stay (320Kbps) [1982]

Here to Stay compiles all five Slickee Boys 7"s from 1976–1981 (plus one previously unreleased song—"Kids"). It was released by the German label Line Records with a catalog number of LLP 5170. It includes cover versions of songs originally recorded by Perry Como (by way of the Downliners Sect), the Rokes (and the Grass Roots—the Slickees combined the two versions), Vince Taylor, the Yardbirds, the Hangmen, the Chocolate Watchband, as well as the theme from the film Exodus. According to the liner notes for Mersey, Mersey Me, Talking Heads

had dropped the song "Girls Want to Be With the Girls" from their repertoire but re-visited it after hearing the Slickees' version, which beat the Talking Heads version to vinyl by months.

Some of these songs were later re-recorded for their 1985 album, Uh Oh… No Breaks! (including "Kids", re-titled "When We Were Kids").

The Droogs was a United States rock group from Los Angeles, active between 1972 and 1992, with the majority of releases from the mid-1980s onwards. The band was formed by Ric Albin (vocals), Roger Clay (guitar), Paul Motter (bass), and Kyle Raven (drums). Inspired by 1960s garage rock, during the 1970s, they released six singles (later collected on the Anthology album), with several changes of personnel in the rhythm section. The line-up stabilized in the early 1980s with David Provost (formerly of Dream Syndicate) on bass/keyboards and Jon Gerlach on drums. In the mid-1980s, the band was considered part of the Paisley Underground scene, but found greatest success in Europe, and in 1987 signed to the German label Music Maniac. The band split up in 1992, after a final album, 1991's Guerilla Love-In.
