Sidewinders - !Cuacha! (256Kbps VBR) [1987]

History
The Sidewinders formed in the spring of 1985 by guitarist Rich Hopkins and vocalist David Slutes.[1] The group released its first record, Cuacha!, in 1988, and subsequently signed to RCA/Mammoth Records, where they released two full-length albums, 1989's Witchdoctor and 1990's Auntie Ramos' Pool Hall. Witchdoctor cracked the lower echelons of the Billboard 200 at #169,[2] on the strength of two modern rock radio hits; the band scored exposure on MTV and VH1 and embarked on a worldwide tour,[3] but the band's career was soon sidelined due to legal problems. In 1991, a North Carolina cover band known as Sidewinder sued the group over the use of its name, and it took two years to sort out the proceedings and secure the release of their next album, now under the name Sand Rubies.[4]
As the Sand Rubies, they released an album on Polydor/Atlas in 1993; at one point, Pearl Jam served as their opening act.[5] However, due to attrition over the period of legal troubles, the rhythm section of the band had departed, and the Sand Rubies dissolved during a tour in 1993,[1][3] just as two other Arizona rock bands, Gin Blossoms and The Refreshments, were attracting mainstream attention.
A few one-off shows were given in 1995 and 1996 before an official Sand Rubies reunion was announced in October 1996.[1] A show at SXSW followed in 1997, as did a new album, Return of the Living Dead, in 1998. They were able to independently release a best-of collection of tracks from their major label years entitled The Sidewinders Sessions, and an all-covers album, Release the Hounds, ensued in 1999 along with a tour of Europe.[1] The band broke up again, followed by short reunion stints in 2001-02 and 2006 to support renewed local touring and special rereleases.[1 Complete story @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_Rubies

Beasts Of Bourbon - The Low Road (256Kbps VBR) [1991]

Few words from me
1000% original sound, 1000% special music approach, definately unique and prototypes in the underground and all this from the most exceptional and outstanding Australian group.

Beginnings
The group were thrown together by vocalist Tex Perkins to fulfill a booking his previous band, Tex Deadly and the Dum-Dums, could no longer make. The band began playing together in small venues in Sydney. The initial version of the group included Spencer P. Jones of The Johnnys, Boris Sudjovic and Kim Salmon of The Scientists and James Baker of Hoodoo Gurus. Recruited in large part because they were often found in the Southern Cross, an inner-city Sydney bar, these members form what is considered by some[who?] to be the 'classic'[neutrality is disputed] line-up. This lineup was featured on the band's first album, The Axeman's Jazz, recorded in 1984 in a single afternoon for one hundred dollars by Tony Cohen. The album was an excursion into deranged Gothic country and western,[citation needed] with a strong sense of irony and irreverence toward country music's clichés.[citation needed] A cover of "Psycho" was a hit on alternative radio.[citation needed] Although the album became an underground success, the band continued, for the time being, to be a side project for its members until 1988.

Ciccone Youth - The Whitey Album (Remastered 2006) (320Kbps) [1988]

Album Review

The Whitey Album' is not Sonic Youth's long-rumored cover of the Beatles' entire White Album. Better than that, these New York guitar reconstructionists have come up with their own "Revolution Number 9" for '89, a dizzying collage of violently overhauled chart hits, sound-sculpture mischief, experimental riff shrapnel and art-punk gags stitched together with deviant whimsy.

Cut by Sonic Youth's Madonna-fixated alter ego, Ciccone Youth, The Whitey Album is just as jarring in its disunity and fuzzy in its focus as John Lennon's original splice 'n' dub smorgasbord. It is also compelling in its eccentricity and inspired in its trashing of the Top Forty (Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love," Madonna's "Into the Groove"). The Whitey Album – the follow-up to a 1986 Ciccone Youth EP that also featured Firehose bassist Mike Watt – is willful, fragmented nonsense that actually makes a whole lot of sense.... more@rollingstone

Live - Mental Jewelry (192Kbps) [1991]

The Band
Live (also typeset as LIVE) was an American alternative rock/post-grunge[3] band from York, Pennsylvania, composed of Ed Kowalczyk (lead vocals and guitar), Chad Taylor (lead guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums and percussion). Live has also toured with Ed's younger brother Adam Kowalczyk as a rhythm guitarist, as well as with British keyboardist Michael "Railo" Railton, and Christopher Thorn of Blind Melon.
Live climbed from modest modern rock success to the mainstream spotlight worldwide on the strength of their 1994 breakthrough album, Throwing Copper, which has sold eight million copies in the US.[4] Climbing to number one on the 52nd week on the chart, it is the third album to reach the top after spending a year or longer on the chart. The first two were Fleetwood Mac's self-titled album in 1976, peaking on the 58th week, and Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl in 1989, which holds the record at 64 weeks. The band is most known for their hit singles "Selling the Drama", "Lightning Crashes" (which stayed at the top of Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks for 12 consecutive weeks),[5] "I Alone", "All Over You", "Lakini's Juice", "The Dolphin's Cry", "Simple Creed", and "Heaven". To date, the band has sold almost 20 million copies worldwide.[6]
While Live remains moderately popular in terms of record sales in the United States, much of their current sales come from Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The band has recently enjoyed success outside the United States, especially in Australia and the Netherlands. On Monday, November 30, 2009, guitarist Chad Taylor announced via his personal blog that what was once only a two-year hiatus is more likely a permanent break-up, due to, what he felt, were inappropriate actions by lead singer Ed Kowalczyk.[7

Album Review
Mental Jewelry is the 1991 debut album by Live, an alternative rock band from York, Pennsylvania. Many of the songs on Mental Jewelry are based on the writings of Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti.
Live's debut album was an impressive set of righteous, hard-driving alternative rock; Mental Jewelry was in the vein of such college-radio favorites as U2, but was more vulnerable and less sanctimonious

The Slickee Boys - Here To Stay (320Kbps) [1982]

Intro (Wiki)
Here to Stay compiles all five Slickee Boys 7"s from 1976–1981 (plus one previously unreleased song—"Kids"). It was released by the German label Line Records with a catalog number of LLP 5170. It includes cover versions of songs originally recorded by Perry Como (by way of the Downliners Sect), the Rokes (and the Grass Roots—the Slickees combined the two versions), Vince Taylor, the Yardbirds, the Hangmen, the Chocolate Watchband, as well as the theme from the film Exodus. According to the liner notes for Mersey, Mersey Me, Talking Heads
had dropped the song "Girls Want to Be With the Girls" from their repertoire but re-visited it after hearing the Slickees' version, which beat the Talking Heads version to vinyl by months.
Some of these songs were later re-recorded for their 1985 album, Uh Oh… No Breaks! (including "Kids", re-titled "When We Were Kids").
